Cal In 2nd Place Through 18 Holes

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The California women’s golf team finished strong on day one of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate Friday, ending the opening round in second place out of 14 teams with a team score of 7-under-par 281.

Four Golden Bears shot below par through 18 holes at the University of Denver Golf Club. It was holes 16-18 that defined the day though, as Cal’s scorers were a combined -6 over their final three efforts.

Junior Kaylyn Noh and sophomores Adora Liu and Olivia Lee all shot 2-under 70. Liu began her day with a rare eagle on hole 2. Noh led the Bears with five birdies, including three straight on holes 4-6.

Senior Cristina Ochoa had one of her strongest rounds of the early season, carding a 1-under 71.

The second-place Bears are currently nine strokes shy of tournament host Denver for first place and one ahead of Kansas and New Mexico. They will continue the competition Saturday with their round two tee times beginning at 9:10 a.m. PT.
