Women's Golf Fifth After Day One in Virginia


The University of Missouri women’s golf team opened up the first day of the Evie Odom Invitational, placing fifth through 18 holes.  

Sophomore Melanie Walker continues to keep up her outstanding play in the early-season matches, finishing two strokes behind the top of the leaderboard to lead the Tigers. She finished with a one-under 69 behind a strong front nine, which featured three birdies and one bogey. Senior Emily Staples followed at one-over 71 with three birdies herself. 

Two Tigers finished with scores of 74 on the day, Winnie Ng, and Fleur van Beek, while Ffion Tynan finished day one with 77 to round out the total team score of eight-over (288).

Day two begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday morning for Mizzou in Virginia.
