MEDINAH, Ill. – The Alabama women’s golf team finished the opening round of play at the Illini Invitational at Medinah Monday, ending the day in a tie for 8th overall with a team score of 1-over par 580 (299-281).
After round one the Tide sat in a tie for 12th place, carding a 11-over par 299 but turned things around in the second round shooting a seven-under par 281 moving up four spots on the team leaderboard. The Crimson Tide were led by Taylor Kehoe carding a 3-under par 69 in the final round of the day.
The Highlights
- After sitting in 28th place after the first round with a score of 1-over par 73, Taylor Kehoe scored a 3-under par 69 in the second round, vaulting into in a tie for 11th place
- Sarah Edwards carded a 1-over par 73 along with Kehoe in the opening round and improved by one stroke (72) in the second round, ending the day in a tie for 30th
- Elina Sinz improved her score by seven strokes in the latter round (77-70) and sits in a tie for 38th place
- Kaitlyn Schroeder sits in 51st after carding a 5-over par 149 (79-70)
- Mattie Frick placed 77th scoring 12-over par 156 (76-80) in the first two rounds
- Three Alabama golfers scored under par in the second round at Medinah
- The Tide recorded the fourth lowest round in the second and final round of the day
The Field
- LSU leads the field at 14-under par 562 (275-287)
- Four players are tied atop the leaderboard at 5-under par 139
- The third and final round will tee off Tuesday morning
