Byrne Cracks Top 15 at Tar Heel Invitational – University of Miami Athletics

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Miami golf team closed out play at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Tuesday afternoon, placing 13th in the tournament held at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Miami’s 13th-place finish comes after the team posted a 54-holed score of 903 (+39) on the par-72, 6,200-yard course.

Fourth-year junior Sara Byrne paced the Hurricanes on the course for the third straight tournament, placing tied for 15th among all golfers at 217 (+1). Byrne recorded her best 18-hole score of the season with a 67 in the second round. The Douglas, Cork, Ireland native tallied a 11 birdies, tied with sophomore Olivia Grønborg for most by a Hurricane in the invitational.

Grønborg posted a 54-hole score of 222, tied for 28th on the individual leaderboard, while freshman Barbora Bujáková finished in 63rd at 231 (+15). Grønborg has now tallied five rounds of par or better this season with two at the Tar Heel Invitational.

Freshmen Aada Rissanen and Barbora Bujáková recorded 54-hole scores of 236 (+20) and 237 (+21), respectively.

Florida took home the team title, shooting 848 (-16) as a squad. Auburn followed with a second-place score of 856 (-8), while North Carolina rounded out the top three at 870 (+6).

The Hurricanes return to action on their home course on Oct. 30-31, hosting the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course.
