Five Things to Know: Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship


MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women’s golf is headed down south to Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee to compete in the 26th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship where they will play 54 holes from Sunday, Oct. 15 to Tuesday, Oct. 17. 

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: After three days of play in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at the University of Denver Golf Club, Wisconsin placed ninth at two-over par. Chloe Chan garnered top honors for the Badgers, tying for 17th place at two-under par for her best finish of the season. UC Berkeley led the 14-team field at 21-under par, surpassing host Denver in the final round. Read more about the Ron Moore Intercollegiate here

2. The Course: The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship will be held at the Cherokee Country Club on their 5,965-yard, par-71 course. Cherokee features views of the Tennessee River unlike any other course. The club has hosted both the U.S. Open Qualifying and the Tennessee State Amateur. 

3. The Tournament: The Championship will be held from Sunday, Oct. 15 to Tuesday, Oct. 17, with 18 holes being played on each day. Tee times for the first round will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT and will continue through 9:25 a.m. CT. 

4. The Field: Teams competing include Chattanooga, Clemson, ETSU, Kansas, Kansas St, Kent St, Louisville, Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Pepperdine, Tennessee, UCF and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers is Carly Carter, Kate Brody, Chloe Chan, Alexia Siehl and Vanessa Ho
