ALPHARETTA, Ga. – True freshman Finn Koelle registered his second career top-10 finish as the Washington men’s golf team earned a fourth place finish at the Georgia Golf Club Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.

The Huskies carded a four-under 284 on Sunday, finishing 15 strokes under par for the weekend, one shot back of ETSU in third.

“We didn’t have our best stuff necessarily today and got off to a tough start but the boys hung tough and we showed some resilience in tricky conditions,” head coach Alan Murray said. “The teams that finished ahead of us played really good rounds today and in a strong field that can happen.”

Koelle got off to the fastest of starts imaginable and rarely looked back over the course of the round. The German international birdied each of the first three holes, finishing the front nine at four-under before ultimately finishing with a five-under 67 to finish seventh.

“It was a great tournament by Finn,” Murray said. “He has shown his class and quality as both a competitor and a teammate this fall. A superb tournament for him and a big round for us today.”

Teddy Lin was steady throughout the day, parring 15 holes in a one-over effort to finish in a tie for 18th at three-under for the tournament. Petr Hruby was even on the day Sunday to tie for 25th at one-under, while Bo Peng eagled 18 to finish the weekend even-par for a tie for 30th. Taehoon Song rounded things out for the Dawgs at five-over, tying for 52nd.

With the fall portion of the schedule now in the rear-view, the Huskies will now focus their attention on building towards the spring, returning to competition at the Southwestern Invitational Jan. 29-31 at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.

“Overall I’m really encouraged by what our guys have shown this fall,” Murray said. “Each guy has had some great moments and we know go into the off season encouraged by our good play and also eager to improve in anticipation of the spring. Can’t wait to get going again in the new year!”
