NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf travels to St Andrews, Scotland, this week to participate in the St Andrews Links Collegiate tournament. The event will take place over three days at the St Andrews Links, one of the iconic courses in all of golf, beginning on the 6,218-yard, par-72 Jubilee Course Monday and Tuesday.
“What an unbelievable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our girls to play in the inaugural St Andrews Links Collegiate,” said head coach Greg Allen. “Getting to compete at St Andrews, the home of golf, is something we will not take for granted.”
The Commodores will compete against three other schools—Georgetown, North Carolina, and Notre Dame—for the chance to be the first to claim this trophy.
Vanderbilt made the trip to Scotland last week at the start of the university’s fall break in order to maximize the international experience.
“We’re so grateful to be here and have loved getting to spend a few days learning about the history and Scottish culture,” said Allen.
The Commodore lineup this week includes Ava Merrill, Tillie Claggett, Lynn Lim, Virginie Ding, Sara Im, and Charlene Chung, with the event format counting the team’s best five scores each day.
“It’s definitely different golf over here, but we’ve had a good couple days learning how to adapt,” said Allen. “It’s going to be a lot of fun the next three days, I can’t wait to get started.”
Vanderbilt will tee off at 4:42 a.m. CT with Georgetown, North Carolina, and Notre Dame. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
Sattelkau Set For World Stage
The Commodore lineup for the St Andrews Links Collegiate does not feature Celina Sattelkau, as the graduate student will be competing for Germany at the World Amateur Team Championship beginning Monday morning. The tournament will be played at the 6,497-yard, par-72 Abu Dhabi Golf Club, with each of the 32 countries in the field counting its two lowest scores over four rounds and 72 holes of competition in an effort to claim the Espírito Santo Trophy. Sattelkau last played on the international stage the opening week of August when she was a part of a victorious Team Europe at the Patsy Hankins Trophy tournament in Spain.
