The University of Missouri women’s golf team opened up the first day of The Southern with two Tigers in the top 10 after 36 holes
Freshman Fluer van Beek (77-72) and sophomore Melanie Walker (75-74) both carded a +5 (149) through two rounds of play, securing a spot in the top 10 going into the final round. In her second round, van Beek fired a 72 for par with three birdies. Both are only five strokes behind the top three on the leaderboard.
Ffion Tynan carded the best round of the day for the Tigers during the second round at one-under (71) to turn around her score coming out of the first round.
Missouri sits in seventh at 608 going into the final day with host Georgia Southern leading the back at 591. The Tigers improved their performance by 18 strokes from the first round to the second round, carding a 295 in the second 18 holes of action.
Day two begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning for Mizzou in Georgia.
