Preston Bebich Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Week

PULLMAN, Wash. – After finishing second at the 2023 Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Washington State senior Preston Bebich has been named the Pac-12 Male Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

At the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Bebich posted the highest finish of his career after firing rounds of 67-70-66 – 203, finishing 13-under par and one stroke off the lead. On his final round of 6-under, 66, Bebich totaled seven birdies and just one bogey.

Over the 54-hole event, Bebich tied for second in Par 3 scoring (2.92), T-8th in Par 4 scoring (3.87) and T-5th in Par 5 scoring (4.33).  In all, he carded 34 pars and17 birdies over the three rounds.

His 203, 54-hole score tied for the sixth-lowest in program history while his 13-under-par is the third-lowest score to par at WSU.

Last week was not the first time Bebich has found success at the Pacific Invitational. In 2021, the then-sophomore recorded the first top-5 finish of his career, placing fourth at the same event, finishing 11-under-par.

Bebich becomes the second Cougar to win Pac-12 Golfer of the Week honors this season, as Pono Yanagi captured the honor following his winning effort at the season-opening Golfweek Fall Challenge. Prior to last season, the award was handed out monthly, and the last Cougar to win Golfer of the Month honors was current Cougar assistant coach Kevin Tucker, who won October Golfer of the Month honors during the 2008-09 season.
