Women's Golf Heads to North Carolina to Cap Fall Schedule

WILIMINGTON, N.C. – No. 21 Arizona Women’s Golf will wrap up its fall schedule with a return trip to the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington, beginning on Friday, Oct. 27. Arizona’s three earlier tournaments this season were the Mason Rudolph Championship in Tennessee, Windy City Classic in Illinois, and Stanford Intercollegiate in California. The Wildcats previously played in UNCW’s home tournament during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

“Our fall schedule has really prepared us for a variety of courses and gameplans that we will face in the spring and postseason,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “This weekend is another opportunity for our team to take on a different type of challenge, and our young ladies are ready to compete and end the fall on a high note. We’ve grown from each opportunity presented so far this year, and we have a good mindset for this weekend.”

Graduate senior Gile Bite Starkute and sophomore Nena Wongthanavimok have posted Arizona’s lowest score in each of its three tournaments this year, highlighted by Wongthanavimok’s top-15 performance at the Windy City Classic earlier this month.  Starkute is coming off a strong final round at Stanford, which saw her card a career-low round of 67.

The Cats are the only Pac-12 program in the field this weekend at the Country Club of Landfall alongside six Big Ten teams and five ACC teams. At a par of 72, the course will play at a yardage of 6,194 yards.
