ROSEMONT, Ill. – Isabel Sy was selected as the Big Ten Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after a fourth-placed finish at the Landfall Tradition, the conference announced today.
Sy posted a 54-hole total of 208 (-8) at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C., and fired a season-low 6-under (66) on Sunday’s final round to secure a third-straight Top 5 finish. The senior is the third Illini golfer since 2013 to achieve three-straight Top 5s, joining Crystal Wang (2022-23) and Ember Schuldt (2013-14).
The San Gabriel, Calif., native, carded a total of 17 birdies during the tournament, tied for the most among the field, and also posted the second-lowest scoring average on par 4s (3.87, -4).
This marks the third-career weekly honor for Sy, who was last earned this award on Feb. 28, 2023.
The Fighting Illini are back in action on Feb.12 , where they head to New Providence, The Bahamas to compete in the Nexus Collegiate, played at Albany Golf Club.
