Ye Wins First Professional Title

XIAMEN, Fujian — Angelina Ye posted the first win of her professional career on Thursday, taking home the title of the 2023 Women’s China Open. Ye, a Cardinal from 2019-23, earned the victory after taking the lead following the second round, and held on in the third round to secure the title.

Ye held a one stroke lead over Zixuan Wang of China entering the final round, but Wang shot a 33 on the front nine to pull even with Ye. From that point on, Ye played some of her best golf of the tournament, recording three birdies on the back nine to gain a two stroke lead on Wang and hang on for her first professional win. Ye shot 69-66-67=202 over three days, and did so without recording a bogey in the entire tournament, becoming the first player in China LPGA Tour history to win a tournament without dropping a shot.

A 2021 WGCA First Team All-American and part of the Cardinal’s 2022 national championship team, Ye continues to make a name for herself on the China LPGA Tour. Ye’s win at the 2023 Women’s China Open comes in the 13th installment of the tournament and is her first overall since claiming the title at the 2019 Stanford Invitational.

Established in 2008, the CLPGA Tour is the only women’s professional golf tour permitted and sanctioned by the China Golf Association.
