Li Joins Fighting Illini Women's Golf

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois head coach Renee Slone announced today the addition of Yurang Li to the 2023-24 roster.

Li, who signed with the Illini in November, will be eligible to compete when the Orange and Blue open the spring slate on Feb. 12 at the Nexus Collegiate.

“We are thrilled to welcome Yurang to our team in January,” Slone said.  “Yurang first approached us with the option of graduating high school a semester early in July. After further discussions, we decided to move forward with this plan in August. She was required to switch to online classes and take on a heavier academic load to fulfill the graduation requirements. Yurang approached these changes with enthusiasm and diligence.”

“She has already demonstrated a tremendous commitment to the team by pursuing an early graduation so she can compete for the Illini in the spring semester. Her unwavering selflessness is one of many qualities we have been so impressed with.”

“We are excited to assist Yurang with her continued growth and development as she transitions to this next chapter and look forward to celebrating many successes with her.”

The Fullerton, Calif., native, capped off a decorated high school career at Sunny Hills by earning her fourth-straight Freeway League title in 2023 to go along with a tied-for-third finish at the CIF/SCGA SoCal HS Girls Championship, to earn a place in the CIF/SCGA State Championship. Li was also a four-time league MVP and ranked as high as No. 3 on the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.
