Rose Zhang wins 2023 Golfweek Awards as Female Amateur of the Year

For the second straight year, there wasn’t much conversation among Golfweek‘s staff when it was time to decide the Female Amateur of the Year.

There were plenty of remarkable performances and stellar athletes across the globe who shined bright during the 2023 calendar year. There were defending champions proving their worth, plenty of first-time winners and veterans standing out when the lights were brightest, but one female golfer stood out among them all.

In the end, it came down to four athletes, three who made honorable mention and the Golfweek Female Amateur of the Year. How impressive was Zhang to win this award considering she was an amateur for only the first five months of the year? Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion. Pac-12 champion. NCAA Pullman Regional champion. NCAA individual champion for the second straight year. Annika Award winner for the second straight year.

Yeah, Zhang is the best female amateur of all time for a reason. What a year.

Anna Davis’ resume is stacked. Member of the Junior Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup teams. Women’s World Amateur Team Championship member. Won the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and the Junior Orange Bowl International. Also made the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the Round of 16 at the U.S. Girls’ Junior.

If you’re looking for consistency, Ingrid Lindblad’s picture is next to the word in the dictionary. The 2023 Mark H. McCormack medal winner had another great year at the college level for LSU and on the amateur circuit.
