ATHENS, Ga. – Washington’s Stefanie Deng carded a 3-under 69 to win the Lady Bulldog Invitational. The one-day, two-round individual tournament at UGA Golf Course was shortened to just 18 holes due to bad weather.

Deng, a senior from Shanghai, China, was declared the winner, one stroke ahead of her nearest competitor, Georgia’s Caterina Don, who shot a 2-under 70.

“Unfortunate to only play 18 holes but it was a good way for us to start the spring,” said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “I’m super excited for, and proud of, Stef. She’s been working incredibly hard on the things that matter most and it’s nice to see some of that pay off for her.”

Deng’s scorecard included four birdies and just one bogey.

Two other Huskies finished in the top-10, as Jamie Hsieh (even, 72) finished in a tie for fourth place, and freshman Mads Smith (1-over, 73) tied for ninth place.

The Huskies return to action Feb. 5-6, at the Beach Invitational in Seal Beach, Calif.
