Liu, Fouillet In Top 20 After 27 Holes
GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The California women’s golf team began its spring season Friday at the Collegiate Invitational, taking eighth place through 27 holes at Guadalajara Country Club shooting 19-over-par as a team.
Sophomore Adora Liu finished the opening round strong with birdies on two of the last five holes, ending the round tied for fifth place individually at 1-under. Liu finished the day in ninth place after shooting 3-over on the front nine in round two.
Also heading into day two in the top 20 is Constance Fouillet. The freshman carded a 5-over on the day and led the Bears with five birdies.
Competing in her second competition of the season, junior Jieming Yang ended the day on a high note, picking up an eagle on hole nine. Yang leads the Bears in round two at 2-under and is tied for 35th place at 7-under overall.
Rounding out Cal’s lineup are sophomore Olivia Lee and junior Kaylyn Noh, both of whom contributed to the team’s first-round score. Lee carded a 7-over in round one and is shooting 2-over in round two. Noh shot 5-over in the opening round and ended the day at 13-over.
The Bears will resume round two on Saturday three strokes outside of the top five, beginning on hole 10 at 6:45 a.m. PT.
Strong start for Adora Liu who ended the opening round in 4th place individually at 1-under and leads the Bears following day one of the Collegiate Invitational! Constance Fouillet also lands in the top 20 heading into Saturday.
