PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – No. 7 USC women’s golf split the first day of the Therese Hession Regional Challenged as it pushed past Ohio State 3-1-1 and dropped the second match against No. 8 Texas 3-2-0 on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.Â

The Trojans had an up-and-down day as all, but one squad member was handed both a win and a loss. Sophomore Catherine Park was the lone member of that stipulation as she tied in her first match, before getting one of the two wins vs. No. 8 Texas. USC started the morning on a roll as it took down the host school in the newly readjusted match-play style tournament. Three players earned wins including junior Amari Avery, who posted the largest victory of the evening with a 4&2 victory from the No. 4 spot against Ohio State. In the second matchup of the afternoon freshman Frances Kim, had a massive role, as she earned a victory in her second-career start.Â
