Virginia Athletics | Sambach Leads UVA at Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – All-American Amanda Sambach posted her fourth top-10 finish in five tournaments this season to lead No. 23 Virginia at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club. The Cavaliers finished sixth in the 12-team field.

Sambach posted rounds of 73, 73 and 71 to finish fifth at 1-over 217. She was joined in the top-10 by UVA freshman Jaclyn LaHa who tied for ninth at 7-over 223. LaHa had rounds of 73, 77 and 73. It marked her first top-10 finish as a collegiate.

As a team, Virginia finished at 39-over 903. The Cavaliers posted identical scores of 11-over 299 during the first and third rounds and shot 17-over during the second round.

UVA’s other scores were 231 by Rebecca Skoler to place 36th. She had rounds of 76, 78 and 77. Megan Propeck was 49th at 235 with rounds of 77, 77 and 81. Celeste Valinho was 58th at 240 with scores of 79, 83 and 78. Kiera Bartholomew as 50th at 236.

Florida State claimed the tournament trophy by shooting 14-over 878. Tennessee was second at 888. Medalist honors went to Colorado State’s Andrea Bergsdottir who shot 4-under 212.

The Cavaliers travel to Rahcho Sante Fe, Calif., for the San Diego State Classic on Feb. 12-13.
