CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf season continued last week, and Clemson became the first ACC Men’s Golf team to capture a spring title, claiming first place at the Battle at Briar’s Creek at John’s Island, South Carolina.
Clemson finished with a 36-hole score of 575, edging second-place Chattanooga by two strokes. The Tigers were led by junior Andrew Swanson who tied for second in the final individual standings with a 3-under 141 and tied for a tournament-best 10 birdies for the two rounds. It was Clemson’s first team victory of the year and the first time the Tigers had two top four finishers in the individual race.
The action continues Thursday when three ACC teams head to the Amer Ari Invitational at the Mauna Lani North Course in Waimea, Hawaii. Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina will head west to compete against a field featuring nine teams ranked in the top 25 of the latest Scoreboard Rankings. The three-day event begins Thursday at 12:30 p.m. eastern time.
On Sunday, Virginia heads to the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, while Boston College and Virginia Tech will play in the Palmas del Mar Collegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Both tournaments are three-day events.
The ACC is coming off a strong fall season in which six league members combined to win eight team tournament titles – Duke (1 – Rod Myers Invitational), Florida State (1 – Jackson T. Stephens Cup), North Carolina (3 – Olympia Field/Illini Invitational, Williams Cup, East Lake Cup), Notre Dame (1 – Folds of Honor Collegiate), Virginia (1 – Golf Club of Georgia Invitational) and Wake Forest (1 – Highlands Invitational).
