CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Steve Stricker returns to action this week on the PGA Tour Champions, and Nick Hardy is set to compete at The Riviera Country Club, highlighting action ahead for Illini alums playing professionally.  

PGA TOUR

Nick Hardy is set to tee off Thursday at The Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club for the second straight season.  He is 5-for-5 in cuts made so far in 2024, and is coming off of a T66 finish at the WM Phoenix Open. Hardy is currently 83rd in the FedEx cup rankings.

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS

Steve Stricker is back in action on the PGA Tour Champions for the first time since the opening his season with a third-place finish at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship on Jan. 20. 

The Illini legend will make his fourth career start at the Chubb Classic at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. He won the event in 2020, carding a 16-under 200. Stricker also has runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2023.

Stricker, who was inducted in the University of Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class in 2017, was recently selected for induction in the state of Wisconsin’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

KORN FERRY TOUR

Brian Campbell continued his hot start to the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour season last weekend with a runner-up finish via playoff at the Astara Golf Club Championship in Bogota, Columbia.

Campbell shot rounds of 61-68-66-66 to sit in a tie atop the leaderboard before falling in the first playoff hole. It marked his third-career runner-up finish on the Korn Ferry Tour, and his first since doing so twice in a three-tournament stretch from late-May to mid-June 2016.

LIV GOLF LEAGUE

Thomas Pieters shot 5-under in Round 1 and finished 2-under in a tie for 30th for the week to help the RangeGoats to a third-place team finish in Las Vegas.

Pieters will be back in action, March 1-3, at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
