Men's Golf Heads to California for The Prestige


PULLMAN, Wash. (February 18, 2024) – The Washington State men’s golf team turns right around to head to La Quinta, California to play in The Prestige hosted by UC Davis.

The tournament runs Monday Feb. 19 to Wednesday, Feb. 21, and will make it six days of golf for the men in seven days.

The Course and Tournament Format

The Prestige will be held at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West. The course will play as a par-71 at 7,100 yards. Teams will play 18 holes each day.

This is the second year in a row the Cougars will be playing at The Prestige, and look to improve upon their 33-over, 885 finish last year.

In addition to Washington State and host UC Davis, other teams competing include Stanford, Baylor, Cal Poly, Chattanooga (23), Colorado State, Duke (26), Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville (47), Loyola Marymount (42), Nevada, Northwestern (36), Oregon (18), Oregon State (46), Princeton, San Diego, San Francisco, SMU (38), Texas Tech (24) and Washington (5).

Last Time Out

WSU had an excellent first day, shooting 10-under to go into day two tied for second place behind a 6-under from Yanagi and a 4-under from Bebich. After a tough second round, the Cougs entered the final round tied for 12th, and used a 6-under day to work their way back up and finish tied for seventh at the 2024 John Burns Intercollegiate.

Head Coach Dustin White is in his eighth season leading his alma mater. The 2023-24 Cougar squad, which returns nine members from last season, looks to build of the 2023 campaign which saw WSU post its best showing at a Pac-12 Championship, finishing in a tie for third. The Cougars also made a return to postseason play competing in the 2023 National Golf Invitational Championship, only the second time in program history that WSU has played in a postseason tournament, and first since the 2002 NCAA West Regional. The Cougars finished in a tie for sixth at the NGI.
