Beaudreau Finishes Fourth In Spartan SunCoast Invitational – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Official Athletics Website

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Notre Dame Fighting women’s golf team competed in their second tournament of the season as they traveled to Florida to compete in the Spartan SunCoast Invitational at the Palm Aire Country Club-Champions Course Feb. 18-19.

The three-round tournament hosted by Michigan State was shortened to two rounds after inclement weather in the area during Sunday’s first round.

“The team really showed what we are capable of this week and I am really proud of them,” said head coach Caroline Powers Ellis. “The Spartan SunCoast Invitational was a stacked field and for us to go in and contend is a testament to the work that our players have been putting in. They fought really well in the cold, rainy conditions on day one and adjusted quickly to the scorable set up on day two to move up on the leaderboard.”

The Irish finished with a collective score of 587 (+11) and beat six ranked teams to finish 7th in a field of 15 teams in the event.

Lauren Beaudreau led the way for the Irish with a fourth place finish as she shot a 74 (+2) in round one but followed with a team-best 68 (-4) in round two.

It was great to have Lauren back in the lineup,” said Powers Ellis. “Her physical preparation to return to play was impressive, but what stood out the most this week is how mentally sharp she was after three and a half months since her last competitive tournament.”

Notre Dame is back in action March 2-3 in Gainesville, Florida to compete in the Florida Gators Invitational.
