Freshman Becomes First Bear With 10 Par Or Better Rounds This Year
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Freshman Constance Fouillet became the first Golden Bear to record 10 rounds of par or better this season as she led the California women’s golf team on day one of the Pac-12 Preview Monday at Nanea Golf Club.
Midway through the opening round, Fouillet – who entered the spring on pace to set the Bears’ freshman scoring record – catapulted into the top 20 by picking up five birdies over seven holes. The Rennes, France native ended the day tied for 11th place individually with a 2-under-par 71. Her five birdies were one shy of the most that any golfer had.
As a team, the Bears closed out round one in a tie for 10th place with a team score of 10-over 302. Senior Mika Jin posted the team’s second-best individual score at 2-over 75. She is tied for 32nd place heading into round two on Tuesday.
Sophomores Olivia Lee and Anna Molloy carded identical 5-over 78 scores to tie for 47th. Lee shot 1-under on par 3s, tying Fouillet for the third-best total out of the 60-player field. Junior Kaylyn Noh shot a 7-over 80 to round out Cal’s lineup.
The Bears will be back for round two tomorrow morning with the same shotgun start time at 9:30 a.m. PT.
