KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – Two Huskies punched under-par rounds as the Washington women’s golf team wrapped up the first day of the Pac-12 Preview at five-under and in third place.

Carmen Lim led the pack most of the day for UW, as the sophomore notched six birdies on Monday morning to land her tied for seventh place.

“I’m really excited for Carmen,” UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur said. “It was good to see her have a nice round and a really good all-around effort from the team.”

Also tied for seventh is Vivian Lu, who finished her first round three-under while also tallying six birdies on the day. Lu joins Lim at just three strokes behind the leader entering the second day of the tournament.

After starting out two-over through the first nine holes, Jamie Hsieh battled back and holed three birdies on the back nine to bring her back to even. Stefanie Deng finished her first round of the tournament one-over, collecting one birdie and just two bogeys.

Camille Boyd’s scorecard saw four birdies en route to a two-over 75 on her first day of competition.

“Camille is hitting the ball really well and I know she’ll bounce back tomorrow,” Mulflur said. “Overall, it was a good day, everyone played well. The best part is that they’re not happy, I love seeing them continue to want to play better.”

The second round of the Pac-12 Preview is scheduled to tee off Tuesday morning on the Big Island.
