Men Tied for 13th Through Round One of The Prestige


LA QUINTA, Calif. (February 19, 2024) – Washington State men’s golf ended day one of The Prestige tied for 13th after shooting a 5-over, 289 on the par-71, 7,100-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA West.

Individually, fifth year senior Pono Yanagi led the men with a 4-under, 67 using three birdies and an eagle on hole 12 to sit tied for sixth. Redshirt freshman Ben Borgida also scattered three birdies to finish an even, 71 and is tied for 37th.

Senior Preston Bebich birdied his first two holes of the day, and after a triple-bogey on hole 12, bounced back to par the next five holes and birdie hole three to finish 2-over, 73, tied for 62nd.

Sophomore Sam Renner finished with three birdies as well for a 7-over, 78 performance, while senior Drayton Joseph also finished at 7-over, 78, as they each sit tied for 110th.

The Cougars continue at The Prestige tomorrow with round two teeing off at 6:45 a.m. PT.
