Indigo Sports takes over management of Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe

Indigo Sports, a subsidiary of Troon, will now manage the golf operations, agronomy, retail, F&B, sales and marketing of Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, a 27-hole municipal golf course in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The four-year contract was approved by the city’s governing body in early January and began on Feb. 1.

Links de Santa Fe features a 7,272-yard par-72 18-hole championship course designed by Baxter Spann, as well as a nine-hole executive length golf course named “The Great 28” also designed by Spann. The course will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year and will unveil a new logo to commemorate the event.

“Santa Fe has always been a great place to live, work, visit, and play. Now, with the world-class golf course operator, Troon, partnering with the city, our outstanding Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe is poised to show off for residents and visitors alike,” said Alan Webber, mayor of the City of Santa Fe.

The facility is located eight miles west of Santa Fe’s historical downtown district and features a golf shop, The Links Bar & Grill, a driving range, a practice putting green and a short game area.

The course is named after Santa Fe native Marty Sanchez, who had won multiple tournaments statewide in grade school before becoming a star golfer at Santa Fe High School and earning scholarships to New Mexico Junior College and Western New Mexico University. Sanchez died of cancer in 1992 at the age of 25. Shortly thereafter, former Santa Fe Mayor Sam Pick promised the Sanchez family that the city would one day name a golf course after him.

Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe opened in 1998 and fulfilled the mayor’s promise.
