Hawkeyes to Play In Westbrook Spring Invite – University of Iowa Athletics

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team heads to Arizona for the second tournament of the spring — the Westbrook Spring Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin. The 54-hole tournament will be held from Feb. 25-26 at Westbrook Village Golf Club – Vistas Course (par 72, 6,248 yards) in Peoria, Arizona. Action begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT).

THE LINEUP
The Hawkeyes’ lineup includes: sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna, sophomore Madison Dabagia, sophomore Riley Lewis, junior Paula Miranda and sophomore Shannyn Vogler. Freshman Ximena Benites will be competing as an individual.

THE FIELD
The 12-team field includes: Colorado State (43), Iowa (94), Kansas (40), Kansas State (58), Minnesota (52), Missouri (82), Nebraska (67), Oklahoma (53), Rutgers (103), South Florida (32), UNC Wilmington (86) and Wisconsin (76). (NCAA rankings are in parentheses.)

THE COURSE
Westbrook Village Golf Club is a premier golf destination in the west valley. This 6,248-yard, par-72 course is home to two meticulously designed courses, rolling hills, distinctive lines and a diverse playing environment. Westbrook was awarded 2023 Golfpass awards for golfer’s choice, course conditions, course layout and pace of play.

LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes opened the spring at the FAU Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida. Iowa finished in a tie for eighth place with 885 strokes — tied for the 14th-best 54-hole score in program history. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna posted the best 54-hole total of her collegiate career, shooting a one-over par 217 (72-72-73) to tie for 12th place.

LAST YEAR IN ARIZONA
The Hawkeyes placed 12th at the Westbrook Invitational last spring, firing an 879 over 54 holes. Iowa closed out the tournament with a 288 total — its best round of the week. Madison Dabagia was the top individual finisher, tying for 20th place with an even par 216 (72-73-71).

OF NOTE…
• Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna has a team-best 73.25 scoring average during the 2023-24 season. The Omaha, Nebraska, native had a career-best 54 hole score of 217 at the FAU Paradise Invitational to tie for 12th, which matched the best finish of her career.
• The Hawkeyes have nine sub-par and 10 even par rounds, individually, this season. Sophomore Madison Dabagia has a team-best six rounds at or below par.
• Dabagia has had 11 of her 12 rounds count toward the team score this season.
