Griffin Collects Top-10 Finish at Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Junior Jake Griffin earned a top-10 finish to lead the Penn State men’s golf team as the Colleton River Collegiate concluded at Colleton River Club’s Nicklaus Course Tuesday.
 
The Nittany Lions finished 14th in the team race, coming in at an even 864. Penn State shot a 2-under, 286, in Tuesday’s third and final round.
 
Griffin finished tied for 10th at 8-under, 208, after moving up 19 spots in the final round thanks to a stellar 6-under, 66. Griffin collects his second top-10 finish of the 2023-24 season.
 
Graduate student Jimmy Meyers wrapped up the second round at 2-under, 70, before shooting a 1-over, 73, in the third round to finish at 2-over, 218, and in a tie for 50th place. Freshman Zach Smith also tied for 50th after shooting a 1-over, 73, in the final round Tuesday.
 
Graduate student Patrick Sheehan carded a 2-over, 74, in the third round and finished tied for 60th at 4-over, 220.
 
Sophomore Billy Pabst Jr. placed 79th at 13-over, 229. Freshman Robby O’Regan, playing as an individual, finished 84th.
 
The Nittany Lions return to action Monday and Tuesday at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga.
