HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Duke women’s golf graduate student Emma McMyler and freshman Katie Li shot 70 and 71, respectively, on Tuesday in the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate to pace the Blue Devils at the 6,369-yard, par-71, Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The winds picked up on the second day and the scores for most teams increased as well, seeing the scoring average move from 72.96 to 73.92. With 18 holes remaining, Duke sits in fourth place and only eight shots off the lead with a 3-over, 571.

How It Happened
- The Blue Devils opened the second round on hole No. 10 beginning at 11 a.m.
- Boosted by a season-best six birdies on the day, graduate student Emma McMyler signed for a 1-under-par, 70, on Tuesday and is tied for 11th overall with a 1-under, 141.She had a hot start to her round as she hit her pitching wedge from 132 yards to nine feet for birdie on No. 10 and then hit a low punch draw 6-iron from 152 yards with a tree in her way and placed it to 12 feet for birdie.McMyler, a native of San Antonio, Texas, closed the first nine holes with three pars, two birdies and two bogeys to make the turn at 2-under, 33.She added a 12-foot birdie on No. 15 and stuck her 6-iron from 180 yards on No. 17 for birdie.McMyler closed the day with a 1-over, 37, with birdies on No. 2 and No. 6.She had her irons dialed in for those birdies as she placed her approach on the 165-yard, par-3 second hole to a foot for birdie and also stuck her third shot on the par-5 sixth to a foot.
- Freshman Katie Li turned in an even-par, 71, on Tuesday and now has carded even or under par rounds in three straight dating back to the Moon Golf Invitational.Li, who is from Basking Ridge, N.J., carded 14 pars on the day along with one birdie and one bogey on each side.She posted her first birdie on No. 16 as she rolled in a 15-footer.Li then collected a sand save for par as she dialed in her putter from 23 feet on the 17th hole.She added another up-and-down par on No. 1 as her drive ended up in a divot.Li closed her round with a 17-foot putt for birdie on No. 9 to finish at even par.She enters the final round in a tie for 16th with an even-par, 142.
