FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Penn State women’s golf team concluded play at the Juli Inkster Invitational on Tuesday afternoon when weather rolled in and forced the event to be shortened and reverted back to the 36-hole scores. Penn State finished the week 14th.
The third round was more than halfway complete when the Meadow Club finally succumbed to the rain as standing water on the greens and unplayable holes forced the event to revert back to the 36-hole scores from Monday.
Stanford (13-under) finished three shots clear of Washington (10-under) to earn the Invitational crown while USC (6-under) and Oregon State (1-under) also finished in red figures with Denver and San Francisco finished tied for fifth at 7-over.
Senior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) opened strong with a 2-under, 70, in the first round on Monday and added a 5-over, 77, in the afternoon to finish the week tied for 33rd at 3-over.
Junior Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) fired an opening round 74 and finished the week tied for 57th while classmate Michelle Cox (Allentown, Pa.) also had her best round to open the invitational with a 3-over, 75, on Monday morning.
Senior Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) carded the low round on Monday afternoon for the Nittany Lions with a 1-over, 73, highlighted by five birdies.
Graduate student Carlota Garcia (Salamanca, Spain) registered rounds of 77 and 79 on Monday and finished the event tied for 62nd at 12-over.
