CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Shooting a -8 280 on Tuesday, tied for the second-lowest round of the day, the Washington men’s golf team came in at ninth after the third and final round of the RE Lamkin Invitational at San Diego Country Club.

“It was a good bounce back today,” head coach Alan Murray said. “We struggled on day one in terms of not making any putts and got a long way behind so it was a case of trying to go as low as possible today.”

Mixing in an eagle, a birdie and a pair of bogies, Teddy Lin tied as the top-finisher for the Dawgs at four-under for the tournament. Taehoon Song closed with three-straight birdies to match Lin, shooting -2 for the day. Lin and Song tied for 16th overall.

Petr Hruby was the lowest of the four Huskies to shoot under-par on Tuesday, firing a four-under 68 to tie for 19th at three-under for the tournament. Hruby’s 68 was tied for the second lowest round of the day.

“Great round from Petr today,” Murray said. “It was another solid week from him, Taehoon and Teddy so that was great to see.”

Finn Koelle also carded a red number, coming in at one-under 71. At two-over for the tournament, Koelle tied for 47th on the leaderboard. Bo Peng rounded things out for UW, shooting a 72 to finish at five-over overall.

Individually, Drew Warford tied for 42nd, carding a 73 on Tuesday. Justin Hopkins struggled through an arduous final round, finishing the tournament at 10-over.

“We just didn’t have our best stuff as a team this week,” Murray said. “We didn’t get what we hoped for but it was what we got. Sometimes you have to take it on the chin, learn from it and get back to work, which is the same thing we would do if we won.”

The Huskies enjoy a short respite from the recent string of consistent action, taking over a month off from tournament play. UW returns April 12-13 at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate, hosted by Arizona State Papago Golf Course in Phoenix.

“We have some time off from tournament play now and it gives us the opportunity to work on the things we need to,” Murray concluded. “I know that we will be much better when our next tournament rolls around and look forward to that.”
