LIHUE, Hawai’i – Washington’s Camille Boyd carded her second straight round of 5-under 67 Monday at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, leading UW to a 14-under, two-day total and third place on the team leaderboard after two rounds at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
Boyd, who carded five birdies and no bogies in her first round on Sunday, turned in another 5-under 67 on Tuesday, with five birdies, an eagle and two bogeys. She spent significant time atop the individual leaderboard, thanks in part to a 3-under start over her first three holes, including an eagle on No. 2.
Boyd will enter Tuesday’s third and final round one stroke off the lead. The final round begins with a shotgun start at noon PT.
All five Husky starters played the round even or under-par on Monday. With a 2-under 70, Stefanie Deng is 2-under for the tournament, tying her for 11th place heading into Tuesday.
Carmen Lim played bogey-free golf, notching three birdies to card a 3-under 69 for the round. She’s tie for 29th overall, along with Jamie Hsieh, who was 1-under on Monday.
Freshman Mads Smith was even for the round, tying her for 22nd place overall.
“It was a good day today and we got a bit more help from the rest of the lineup,” said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “Overall, we just played a bit smarter and eliminated some of our mistakes from yesterday. Tomorrow is another opportunity to get even better.”
Kennedy Knox, one of three Huskies playing as an individual, holed four birdies on Tuesday, finishing with a 1-over 73 for the day. She’s tied for 40th at 3-over for the tournament.
