NAPA, Calif. – Washington’s Camille Boyd posted her seventh straight under-par round and finished Monday’s first round at the Chevron Silverado Showdown in a tie for seventh place, with a 2-under 70.
As a team, the UW finished the first of three rounds in a tie for eighth place with a team score of 7-over 295.
Boyd, a senior from Yorba Linda, Calif., who has finished first and second in her two most recent competitions, spent some time atop the leaderboard Monday at the Silverado Resort North Course. Beginning her round on No. 10, she capped her first nine with back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and 18 to move to 3-under. On her second nine, she played 1-over to finish with a 2-under 70.
Heading into the second round, she’s among four women tied for seventh, three shots back of the leader.
Three Huskies – Stefanie Deng, Carmen Lim and Jamie Hsieh – all carded 3-over 75s. Lim’s scorecard included five birdies. Those three head into Tuesday’s play tied for 47th.
Freshman Vivian Lu carded a 5-over 77 in round one.
As they did on Monday, the Huskies will tee off on No. 10, starting at 8:44 a.m. on Tuesday.
