GOODYEAR, Ariz. (April 9, 2024) – Washington State women’s golf finished up its second day at the Bobcat Desert Classic as the team sits in 11th place among the 17-team field, at 11-over, 587 at the par-72 Golf Club of Estrella.
Junior Madelyn Gamble finished at an even-par, 72 in round two, and will head into day three in a tie for 11th in the 98-player field. After a trio of bogeys over her first four holes, she rattled off three straight birdies on holes six, seven and eight to wrap up the front nine at an even par. She balanced a pair of bogeys on the back nine with birdies on 15 and 17 to stay even on the day.
Freshman Alice Johansson got off to a great start in round two with a pair of birdies on the front nine, sitting at 1-under at the turn. She had a tough time on the back nine, however, opening with five-straight bogeys, and one more on hole 17 to finish the round at 5-over, 77. She is now tied for 39th with a two-round score at 4-over, 148.
Junior Emily Cadwell is in a tie for 49th after day two, with a 5-over score of 149. Her round-two score ended up at 3-over, 75, where outside of a triple-bogey on her first hole and a double-bogey on 16, she scattered three birdies, 12 pars and a bogey.
Junior Sarah Skovgaard-Bils sits in a tie for 63rd after two rounds at 7-over, 151. After opening with bogeys on two of her first three holes in round two, she birdied hole six to enter the back nine at 1-over. She parred four straight holes before three more bogeys the rest of the way gave her a round-two score of 4-over, 76.
Sophomore Hannah Harrison is also tied for 63rd with a two-round score of 7-over, 151. She finished round two at 2-over, 74 behind three birdies and five bogeys.
The Cougars will continue with the final day of the 2024 Bobcat Desert Classic on Wednesday before hosting the 2024 Pac-12 Championship on April 21-23.
