As a team, Tennessee shot 27-under overall to win by 12 strokes over Florida State. Four Vols also finished inside the top 10.
With the win, Tennessee men’s golf head coach Brennan Webb now has 11 tournament wins at the helm which ties him with former head coach Mike Malarkey (1976-89) for the third-most tournament wins in program history.
Additionally, Webb is the first coach in program history to produce three triple-win seasons.
“(I am) very proud of the guys and their performance this week,” said Webb. “They have all taken on every challenge that has been given to them with a very professional and elite mindset.”
Tennessee’s highest finisher, Bryce Lewis, logged his sixth career-podium finish Tuesday after placing second. The redshirt senior shot 10-under overall, including a second-round score of 63 that tied a career low.
Evan Woosley-Reed also notched a high finish after placing third in the 78-player field.
Woosley-Reed tied a career-high finish after shooting 3-under in the final round and 8-under overall. The sophomore’s best score came in round one where he fired a 4-under 67.
Bruce Murphy had a successful showing at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial after shooting 6-under overall to place sixth.
The redshirt freshman shot par or better in all three rounds, with his best 18-hole score of the tournament coming in round two (67).
Lance Simpson posted his second consecutive top-15 finish after finishing 14that the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. Simpson posted a 1-under showing throughout three rounds.
Competing individually for the Vols, Josh Hill finished tied for 27th after shooting 3-over for the event.
Hill posted back-to-back rounds of 71 to close out the tournament.
After shooting 6-over through his first two rounds, Jake Hall bounced back nicely in round three with a 1-under 71 to provide the Vols with a counting round.
Hall climbed 16 spots up the leaderboard Tuesday and tied for 34th.
THIS WIN IS BIGGER THAN GOLF: The third annual Lewis Chitengwa Memorial is named in honor of former Virginia All-America golfer Lewis Chitengwa, who passed away at age 26 as a result of meningitis. At the time, he was competing in the Canadian Tour’s Edmonton Open.
