Gators on Tour: Week 14


GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  The Gators had another good week on tour with two Florida alums finishing T-14 on PGA and Korn Ferry Tour. 

PGA Tour Golfers

Four former Gators, Tyson Alexander (T-14), Billy Horschel (CUT), Camillo Villegas (CUT) and Alejandro Tosti (CUT) competed at the Valero Texas Open this weekend. 

Alexander finished the best out of the bunch, notching his best finish of the season and first top-15 career finish. The 14 year pro made 21 birdies, which was good for third best in the field. Alexander also had a great weekend with the putter, finishing ninth in SG: Putting with a value of 4.790 and seventh in Putts per GIR with a value of 1.59. 

Korn Ferry Golfers

Three Gators competed on the Korn Ferry tour this weekend. Fred Biondi and T.J. Vogel were both cut while Ricky Castillo (T-14) finished with his sixth top-20 finish in as many events. 

Castillo ended his weekend with a five under 67 to move into the top-15. The 2023 National Champion placed seventh in Greens in regulation, 80.56% (58/72). Castillo sits in 12th in Korn Ferry tour points with 412. 

What’s Next

The PGA Tour will travel to Augusta National for the Masters. Former Gator Camillo Villegas will be teeing off in Augusta. 

The Korn Ferry Tour will travel to Lakewood Ranch Florida in two weeks for the LECOM Suncoact Classic. Look for former Gators to compete at Lakewood National.

The PGA Tour Champions is off for two weeks and will return April 19 for the Invited Celebrity Classic. 

PGA Tour Americas will return on April 18 in the 69th ECP Brazil Open In Rio De Janeiro. Look for former Gators to tee off at the Rio Olympic Golf Course.
