PHOENIX – Competing for the first time in more than a month, the No. 8 ranked Washington men’s golf team gets back into the swing of things at the Thunderbird Collegiate, hosted by Arizona State at Papago Golf Course.

“We’re excited to be back in the saddle,” head coach Alan Murray said. “We haven’t played in a tournament for a month as we had finals for the winter quarter and then went to Melbourne on a foreign tour, which was great preparation for the remainder of the season.”

The Dawgs will be facing plenty of stiff competition in the desert, including fellow top-25 ranked programs per Clippd in the No. 4 Sun Devils, No. 9 Arizona, No. 10 Texas Tech, No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 19 New Mexico.

It will be the fifth straight year that the Thunderbird Collegiate is hosted at Papago Golf Course, which will feature a par-71 at 7,551 yards. The Huskies won the 2010 iteration of the tournament, with the Huskies’ Chris Williams tying for the individual title.

“The course here is a little firm but not as much as the sand belt so it feels nice to see the ball bounce and roll a little again,” Murray said. “The guys are excited to feel the tournament heat again and we look forward to a good test against a good field.”

The Huskies will tee off at 6:56 a.m. PT from hole No. 10 on Friday and will play 36 continuous holes.

Washington’s lineup for the RE Lamkin Invitational is as follows:

  1. Petr Hruby
  2. Taehoon Song
  3. Teddy Lin
  4. Finn Koelle
  5. Bo Peng

“Everyone’s game is in good shape and it’s just a matter of piecing it all together and playing smart golf,” Murray concluded.
