The University of Missouri women’s golf team turns its focus toward the postseason with the SEC Championship, teeing off on Friday morning in Florida.

The 2024 SEC Championship begins on Friday morning with the first of three days of stroke play. Friday’s tee time starts at 8:40 a.m. CT with Saturday and SUnday beginning at 7 a.m. CT.
After three days and three rounds of stroke play, the top eight teams in the standings advance to match play, with the individual champion and individual runner-up being determined following the stroke play competition.The quarterfinals and semifinals are set for Monday, April 15 and the championship slated for Tuesday, April 16. Tuesday’s title matchups is also set to air live on SEC Network.
The SEC, one of the toughest conferences in the country, features four teams in the top 10 and nine total programs that sit in the top 25 nationally.
The teams are scheduled to play on the Pelican Golf Club, a par-70 course that measures 6,150 yards in length.
TIGERS AT THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP
Mizzou is set to compete in its 11th SEC Championship since joining the conference in 2013. The Tigers’ best finish came in 2018 when they placed eighth in the stroke-play format of the tournament and advanced to the match play bracket – falling in the quarterfinals to top-seeded South Carolina.
Last season, the Tigers finished 14th in the stroke play with Kate Bibby leading the way for MU with a three-day total of 232, including a 78 in the final round.
RECAP OF 2023-24 SEASON SO FAR
Mizzou is currently on pace to feature four golfers with a stroke average of 74 or below for the second-consecutive season, and second time in school history. The team’s top stroke average golfers competing this week feature Melanie Walker (72.83), Ffion Tynan (73.71), Fleur van Beek (73.75), Emily Staples (73.83), Winnie Ng (74.57) and Addie Dobson (75.33).
The highlights for the team includes placing second at the Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne, while also placing third at the Tulane Classic.
For individual accomplishments, Melanie Walker is leading the team with a historical season stroke average. Currently Walker sits at third on the leaderboard with a 72.83, only .16 behind leader Jessica Yuen (2017-18) for the program’s single-season record. After firing her…
