SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Putting a tough weekend in the desert behind them, the Washington men’s golf team makes a quick turnaround in familiar territory, once again competing in the Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club Apr. 15-17.

Dating back to 1947 and being hosted for the 77th time, the Western Intercollegiate is the nation’s longest-running college golf tournament.

“It’s a quick turnaround for us but after our struggles in the desert I am glad we get a chance to play so quickly,” head coach Alan Murray said. “Completely different test this week and Pasatiempo is one of our favorite courses.”

Coverage of the Western Collegiate will be available on the Golf Channel and Peacock, beginning at 1 p.m. PT.

Ranked No. 8 in the Clippd team rankings, the Dawgs will be facing fellow top-25 teams in No. 9 Arizona, No. 17 Texas, No. 21 Cal and No. 25 Oregon.

Pasatiempo Golf Club features a par-70 course at 6,615 yards.

“The course is softer than usual and they have made changes to the greens on one side in the past year so it is essentially two different surfaces on each nine,” Murray said. “It is part of a restoration project and it was really cool to see it this morning for the first time. Hard to improve upon a classic golf course but I think they may have done it.

“This tournament is a 6 count 5 format like the Pac-12 championship so it is ideal preparation for our conference tournament at the end of the month.”

Washington will tee off at 9:46 a.m., featuring the following lineup:

  1. Petr Hruby
  2. Taehoon Song
  3. Finn Koelle
  4. Bo Peng
  5. Teddy Lin
  6. Justin Bai

    Drew Warford (Ind.)

“This is a great chance for us to respond to our last couple of events which were less than our best,” Murray said. “We want to build some momentum heading into the post season and get back to being the team we want to be.
