FORT WORTH, Texas – The Ben Hogan Award committee, Friends of Golf, and the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday that Vanderbilt’s Gordon Sargent has been named a semifinalist for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank for the second-straight season.

Sargent, who was a finalist for the 2023 Ben Hogan Award, is coming off his sixth career collegiate win, as he captured the individual title at the Mason Rudolph Championship for the second-consecutive year. The junior carded 11-under 202 at the Mason Rudolph Championship to claim his first individual title of the 2023-24 season.

The Birmingham, Alabama, native is currently the No. 1-ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Sargent has posted four top-five finishes during the 2023-24 season, while he holds a scoring average of 69.92 through eight collegiate tournaments. The 2022 NCAA national champion has carded under par in a team-best 17 rounds this season, while he was recently named SEC Golfer of the Week back on April 10. In October, Sargent became the first golfer to earn their PGA Tour card via the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. In addition, Sargent has represented the United States twice on the international stage this past fall, once at the Walker Cup in September and then again at the World Amateur Team Championships in October.

Determined by voting from the award’s selection committee, the 10 semifinalists for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award are Luke Clanton (Florida State), Wenyi Ding (Arizona State), David Ford (North Carolina), Nick Gabrelcik (North Florida), Ben James (Virginia), Jackson Koivun (Auburn), Christo Lamprecht (Georgia Tech), Gordon Sargent (Vanderbilt), Preston Summerhays (Arizona State) and Michael Thorbjornsen (Stanford).

Three finalists will be selected from the list of 10 semifinalists on Tuesday, May 7. The finalists will attend a black-tie dinner on May 20, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the winner will be crowned as the Charles Schwab Challenge week kicks off.
