Virginia Athletics | UVA Finishes Round 1 at ACC Championships Tied for Third Place

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team is tied for third place following the opening round of play at the 2024 ACC Championships in Wilmington, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 5-under 283 along with North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Reigning champion Clemson leads the field at 10-under 278 followed by Wake Forest at 280. After 54 holes of stroke play, the top four teams will move on to the match play portion of the championships.

UVA was led on Thursday by freshman Jaclyn LaHa. She shot 3-under 69 at Porters Creek Country Club to stand in a tie for second place. Virginia All-American Amanda Sambach is one shot behind LaHa in ninth place. Celeste Valinho is 17th after opening the event with a 1-under 71. Rebecca Skoler rounded out the Cavaliers’ scoring players with a 73 and stands 29th. Megan Propeck shot 75 and is in 42nd place.

Clemson’s Isabella Rawl leads the field for medalist honors at 5-under 67.

Friday’s second round sees UVA paired with Wake Forest and Clemson. Those teams will tee off starting at 9:50 a.m. from the first tee. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
