HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Illinois women’s golf finished the second round of the Big Ten Championships tied for 11th after carding a team total of 297 (+9).
Isabel Sy fired a second-straight 2-under (70) to end the day fifth and remain in the hunt for individual medalist honors. The senior will enter Sunday’s final round at 4-under overall, two strokes off of the individual lead. Starting the day on No. 10, Sy shot a bogey-free 2-under (34) on the back before an even-par (36) front, amassing four birdies. Her 10 birdies through 36 holes of play are tied for second-most among the field. Sy is also tied for the lowest par 3 scoring average at 2.50 (-4).
Yurang Li moved up to tied for 36th after her round of 71 (-1). Li turned in two birdies and bogeyed just one hole on the day to move up 24 spots on the leaderboard.
Lexanne Halama ends the day tied for 62nd after an 81 (+9), while Anna Ritter and Erica Lee are tied for 78th after rounds of 80 and 78, respectively. Sophia Sulkar is tied for 80th after her second round of 78 (+6).
Michigan State holds the team lead at 14-under (562) and the Spartan’s Katie Lu leads individually at 6-under (138).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action in tomorrow, with third and final round tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT.
