USC Women’s Golf and Catherine Park Set Pac-12 Records on Moving Day

Women’s Golf | April 22, 2024

PULLMAN, Wash. – USC women’s golf put up a record performance, as its 268 (-20) on the day shattered the Pac-12 tournament record that the Trojans previously held from 2016 (275, -13) and set a new program record for the lowest round.  On the same day, sophomore Catherine Park broke the record for the best round at a 64 (-8) on day two of the Pac-12 Championship at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington.

USC moved up two spots, and split the difference, as it is sitting in second place at ten-under-par. Stanford currently leads after day two at 16-under-par.

Park posted her best round of the season, and tied her career-best outing, as she previously had a 64 during the 2023 NCAA Championships. This is the seventh time that Park has posted a round in the 60s, which ties her for the seventh most in a single season for the Women of Troy. The sophomore had a flawless round, as she posted ten pars and eight birdies: including a streak of five-straight birdies on holes No. 9-13. Park now leads the tournament by four-strokes at ten-under-par.

Junior Amari Avery also had a stellar afternoon, as she overcame her seven-over-par outing on day one and followed it up with a seven-under-par day two to make her Even for the tournament. Avery had a similar afternoon to Park, but had one blemish, as she had a bogey on hole No. 6. Avery is third on the team, as she is tied for 13th.

Senior Brianna Navarrosa sits second on the squad, as she is one-under-par after two days. Navarrosa posted a 67 (-5), as she went bogeyless and had five birdies. The senior is now tied for 9th heading into the final day. The final counting score for the Women of Troy comes via junior Xin (Cindy) Kou as she is three-over-par overall. Kou put together an Even, 72, on moving day and is now tied for 32nd in the field.

The final score for USC is from freshman Bailey Shoemaker. Shoemaker sits in 37th place, as she is five-over-par, posting a 77-72 after two days.

The Women of Troy head into final day hoping to overcome the lead that Stanford has as they start teeing off at 9:40 a.m. tomorrow morning in Pullman, Washington.
