Lady Vols to Compete in Bermuda Run NCAA Regional

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee women’s golf was named the No. 7 seed in the Bermuda Run NCAA Regional on Wednesday afternoon, as announced on the Golf Channel during the NCAA DI Women’s Golf Regional Selection Show.

“It’s a good regional site for us,” said head coach Diana Cantú, in her third season in charge of the Lady Vols. “We have beaten some of the top-five seeds this year, so if we put three good rounds together, we will have a good chance of making it through.”

The regional will run from May 6-8 at Bermuda Run Golf Course in Bermuda Hills, North Carolina. Each regional’s top five teams and top individual not on an advancing team will advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, from May 17-22.

Located north of Charlotte and hosted by the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, the regional field consists of twelve teams, four of which are ranked inside the Scoreboard top 25.

TENNESSEE’S HISTORY AT NCAA REGIONALS

The Lady Vols’ second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance marks their 30th in program history. Last season, Vanessa Gilly finished the Westfield regional tied for ninth after a third-round score of 67, as Tennessee finished tied for seventh place.

The Lady Vols will be looking to advance to the NCAA for the 15th time in their history and the first time since 2018-19.

SEASON RECAP

Tennessee has posted a top-10 team finish in every tournament this season for the first time since 2018-19, including three top-five finishes. The current winning percentage (.593) would be the highest since 2014-15 (.816). Their second-place finish at the Collegiate Invitational in February was their best finish since placing second at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic in November 2020. After last season saw the best team round average in school history (291.03), Cantú’s squad is on track to top that record, currently sitting at 289.44 through 11 tournaments. Their 68 rounds of par or better is already the most recorded in a single UT season.
