CAREFREE, Ariz. – Taking part in its final Pac-12 Championship tournament, No. 10 Washington men’s golf hits Desert Forest Golf Club looking to capture it’s second conference championship in the last 10 years.
The Huskies have finished inside the top-five at each of the last three conference championships, including capturing the 2022 Pac-12 title at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash.
The Dawgs are one of three top-10 ranked squads competing at the Pac-12 Championships, joining host No. 3 Arizona State and No. 8 Arizona. No. 21 Cal and No. 24 Oregon are also ranked inside the top-25 of the Clippd Rankings.
Petr Hruby is one of two Haskins Award Watch List honorees that will compete for the conference’s individual title, sharing the honor with Arizona State’s Wenyi Ding.
With the deep stable of talent up and down the conference, the Huskies will need a complete effort to compete for their final Pac-12 crown.
“Our guys looked solid in practice today and are really looking forward to the week ahead,” head coach Alan Murray said. “This will be a true championship test and ensuring you keep a great attitude will be essential to be able to score well.”
Featuring a par-71, 7,203-yard course, Desert Forest Golf Club will host the 6-count-5 tournament. It will mark just the sixth Championships to be played at 7,200 yards or longer.
“Desert forest is an excellent golf course and getting the ball in the fairway is the most obvious challenge,” Murray said. “The greens are superb and being on the correct side of the hole is important. The course is in superb condition and the greens are very true and a nice speed.”
Washington’s lineup for Pac-12 Championships is as follows:
“You cannot fake it around here and patience will be a key element to score well,” Murray concluded. “Good shots are rewarded but loose shots off the tee are heavily punished so being committed is critical.”
