CAREFREE, Ariz. – Behind an even par round from junior Johnny Walker, No. 8 Arizona Men’s Golf carded its lowest score of the Pac-12 Championships by seven strokes in Sunday’s final round. The Wildcats ended their weekend in ninth place with a final score of 75-over par. Extremely windy conditions impacted play at Desert Forest Golf Club throughout the tournament as only four team rounds out of a total of 48 carded broke par.
“This weekend was a difficult challenge for everyone and serves as an excellent learning opportunity for our team,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “We didn’t play up to our expectations, but we were able to have our moments of good golf. This result does not discount our successful season to this point, and we have an exciting NCAA postseason future to look forward to.”
Arizona’s top individual finishers were sophomores Yannick Malik and Zach Pollo who both finished tied for 15th at 11-over par. The Wildcats had a third golfer end his weekend in the top 25 with Johnny Walker shooting 13-over.
Arizona’s NCAA Regional destination will be determined on Wednesday, May 1 with the Golf Channel’s broadcast of the NCAA Men’s Golf Selection Show at 11 a.m. (MST).
