FORT WORTH, Texas – The Ben Hogan Award committee, Friends of Golf, and the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday that Vanderbilt’s Gordon Sargent has been named a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank for the second-straight season.

Sargent is one of three golfers named as finalists for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award. The junior, also a finalist for the 2023 Hogan Award, is currently ranked No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and seventh in the CLIPPD rankings. He has posted four top-five finishes during the 2023-24 season and holds a scoring average of 69.93 through nine collegiate tournaments. Sargent is only the second Vanderbilt golfer to be named a Ben Hogan Award finalist, joining John Augenstein who earned the distinction in 2020.

The 2022 NCAA national champion has carded under par in a team-best 19 rounds this season. He was named SEC Golfer of the Week back on April 10. Sargent has collected a school-record six wins during his collegiate career.

In October, Sargent became the first golfer to earn their PGA Tour card via the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. In addition, Sargent has represented the United States twice on the international stage this past fall, once at the Walker Cup in September and then again at the World Amateur Team Championships in October.

Auburn’s Jackson Koivun and Georgia Tech’s Christo Lamprecht were also named finalists for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award. The finalists will attend a black-tie dinner on May 20, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the winner will be crowned.

The Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank has honored the outstanding amateur collegiate golfer at Colonial Country Club since 2002. Before its move to Fort Worth, the original Ben Hogan Trophy, which was awarded based on a different list of criteria, was issued at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles beginning in 1990.

Recipients of the Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank have combined to accumulate 88 worldwide victories, including 66 PGA TOUR wins, and have amassed more than $420 million in prize money on the PGA TOUR. Additionally, the group has appeared in 17 Ryder Cups and a dozen Presidents Cups.
