Li, Three Other Blue Devils to Compete in U.S. Women’s Open


DURHAM – Duke women’s golf rising sophomore Katie Li along with three other former Blue Devil golfers – Celine Boutier, Brittany Lang and Leona Maguire — will open action Thursday in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, which will be contested May 30 through June 2 at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa.
 
A native of Basking Ridge, N.J., Li competes in the U.S. Women’s Open for the first time in her career.  She is one of 21 amateurs in the field and is coming off a solid rookie campaign with the Blue Devils where she was the only freshman golfer in the ACC to win a tournament.  Li posted a 73.19 stroke average with three top-20 finishes, while posting 13 rounds of even or under par to rank tied for ninth on Duke’s freshman charts. 
 
Lang, the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open Champion, will see action in her 20th straight U.S. Women’s Open, which is currently the longest active streak for the tournament. Over her career, Lang owns 57 career top-10 finishes and has collected over $7,000,000 in earnings on the LPGA Tour. 
 
Seeing action in her eighth U.S. Women’s Open, Boutier has made the cut in four of those events, including a tied for fifth placement in 2019 at the Country Club of Charleston.  She has made the cut in each of the last three appearances placing tied for 34th, tied for 35th and tied for 45th, respectively.  Boutier owns six LPGA victories over her professional career and has won nearly $7 million in earnings. 
 
Maguire will compete in her sixth U.S. Women’s Open and registered a tied for eighth ledger two years ago in Pinehurst.  She owns two victories and 21 top-10 finishes over her short career on tour, while earning $4,411,273 in money on the LPGA.  Maguire carded a tied for 31st placement a year ago at the U.S. Women’s Open. 
 
Fans can follow the action Thursday and Friday (12-2 on Peacock and 2-8 p.m., on Peacock and USA; Saturday (1-3 p.m., on Peacock and 3-6 p.m., on NBC and Peacock) and Sunday (2-3 p.m., on Peacock, 3-4 p.m., on USA and Peacock and 4-7 p.m., on NBC and Peacock).
 
Li kicks off action Thursday for the Blue Devils at 7:07 a.m., off hole No. 10, while Maguire (8:13 a.m.), Lang (1:14 p.m.) and Boutier (1:47 p.m.) follow.
