Seven Blue Devils Named to ACC Men's Golf All-Academic Team

DURHAM – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2023-24 All-ACC Academic Team on Monday, as Duke tied for the league lead with seven selections – headlined by Ian Siebers’ fourth consecutive All-ACC Academic nod.

With seven players being recognized for their achievements on and off the course, Duke sets a new program record for All-ACC Academic selections, surpassing last season’s six. Jimmy Zheng tallies his third straight selection, Kelly Chinn, Luke Sample and William Love are all two-time honorees and Daniel Choi and Bryan Kim both earn their first All-ACC Academic recognition.

Siebers, who graduated with a degree in Economics this May, becomes just the sixth player in program history to make the All-ACC Academic Team four different times, joining Adam Long (2007-10), Julian Suri (2010-13), Brinson Paolini (2010-13), Jake Shuman (2015-18) and Alex Smalley (2016-19).

Sample, with his 71.78 stroke average, led the team for the second consecutive season and was followed closely by Love and Kim, at 72.46 and 72.70, respectively. The Blue Devils tallied a team win at their home event – the Rod Myers Invitational – finished in sixth place at the ACC Championship and earned their ninth straight NCAA regional selection. Duke finished the campaign ranked No. 24 nationally in the final season update from Scoreboard, powered by Clippd.

Academic requirements for selection to the team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their team’s contests and/or the ACC Championships and/or the NCAA Championships during the most recent season.
