Filler, Stevens Receive Academic All-American Honors


To be selected, a student-athlete must: have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Florida women’s golfers Maisie Filler and Sophie Stevens were recognized for their work in the classroom by being named 2023-24 WGCA All-American Scholars, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

The honors are both career first for the Gator duo. 

The award caps off an impressive final season for the Orange and Blue for Filler as she was named an WGCA All-American, All-SEC First Team, GolfWeek All-American, four-time SEC Golfer of the Week and graduated from UF with a degree in political science.

Majoring in social behavior and sciences, Stevens posted a 3.86 cumulative GPA in her freshman season. She earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors behind a team-best T15 finish in the season opener and opening round of a bogey-free 5-under 66.

To be selected, a student-athlete must:

• Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

• Be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season.

• Have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team’s conference championship
